Stranger Cole (JAM)
Stranger Cole (JAM)class="English">Stranger Cole, hailed as a pioneering figure in reggae music, was born Wilburn Theodore Cole in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1945. Because he didn’t resemble anyone else in the family, he was nicknamed ‘Stranger’ – or so the story goes. As a seminal voice in ska, rocksteady, and reggae, Stranger Cole has left an indelible mark on the genre. He notably toured Germany in 2019 with the Bavarian ska and reggae band The Steadytones. His career began in 1962 with the release of his debut single “Rough & Tough”, a huge success in Jamaica. After periods spent in England and Canada, Stranger Cole now lives in Jamaica again. He’ll be playing at the opening of the Rudolstadt Festival.
