Odde/Holmen (NOR)

Odde/Holmen (NOR)In a country fat with fiddle traditions, the young Norwegian-born duo of Bjørn Kåre Odde and Sivert Holmen are adding a new dimension with their raw sound of hardanger fiddle and viola. Playful and virtuosic, they create something violinistic which rewards paying close attention to its nuance, timbre and tone. In addition to the duo concerts, with dancer Silje Onstad Hålien, Sivert Holmen is presenting his performance Óme. The piece revolves around the word ‘Óme’ meaning the echo or a tone’s lingering reverberation, the spirit of sound within silence. It also explores how ‘Óme’ can be translated into movement. How does the fiddle fill the room, and what is left in dance when sound dies away?
