La Kejoca (DEU)

La Kejoca (DEU)Since their Freedom album “Libertad”, the Trio La Kejoca has been one of the flagships of good, handmade folk music in Germany. “Libertad” (2022) was even awarded the prize of the German Schallplattenkritik. The jury statement of Mike Kamp states: “These three are not only talented multi-instrumentalists, but also very good vocalists. Moreover, they go back to their different roots in Bolivia, Portugal and Friesland. Intelligent, courageous, convincing. Ke Keno Brandt, Jo Jonas Relleke & Ca Carmen Bangert have known each other since they studied at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Dusseldorf and formed La Kejoca in 2016. The trio surprises with each piece and enchants with three-part a cappella vocals interwoven with guitar, bass, violin, whistle, Irish bouzouki and bodhran. Traditional, often political, texts merge with their own, new melodies. In Rudolstadt they are supported by Rolf Wagels (Bodhran) and Jörg Fröse (multi-instrumentalist).
