The Wowakin Trio is part of a new generation of traditional musicians in Poland. The band's name is an acronym formed from the surnames of its members. They formed in 2016 and immediately secured third place in Polish Radio's 'New Tradition' competition. The trio brings experience in classical music, jazz, and theatre to the party. They primarily perform music from the Mazovia region, located in the heart of Poland, including mazurkas, obereks, polkas, kuyaviaks, songs, and lullabies. They perform the instrumental pieces and dances with the swing and intense energy that the music demands. Wowakin takes listeners on a journey to country weddings, wild suburban dances and drunken nights. This is all interwoven with bitter songs about death, loss and youthful longing, yet they still breathe the spirit of experimental cabaret.
