Waldimania - UNESCO Kulturerbe
In April 2025, the forest zither was added to the list of German cultural heritage by the German UNESCO Commission and the Conference of Ministers of Culture, and we are delighted to have a suitable project in our programme. The 9-string box-necked lute (with a 500-year-old tradition) in chordal tuning is currently very popular, especially in the young German folk scene, and has produced a number of very good players. Some of them spontaneously founded the Waldimania project to showcase the enormously broad spectrum of playing techniques and the sometimes beguiling sounds of the forest zither. The musicians of Waldimania include Björn Kaidel (Fior) and Tim Liebert (Hüsch), who have taken on the artistic direction, Jessica Jäckel (Tworna), Alex Peters (Folk my Life) and Nico Schneider (Hüsch) as well as renowned surprise guests: don't miss out, we are cultural heritage!
