Tamburica Cindrof

AUT

Strictly speaking, 'tamburica' is the generic term for South Slavic plucked string instruments. However, it is also used to refer to the ensembles that play them. Tamburica music has always been a symbol of Croatian cultural identity. The same is true in Burgenland, where tamburica ensembles can be found in many villages. One such ensemble is based in Siegendorf (Cindrof). The ensemble sees itself as an ambassador for not only the community, but also for Burgenland and, ultimately, Austria as a whole. Past highlights include collaborations with the composer and violinist Toni Stricker, and with André Heller, as well as numerous guest performances abroad. They sum it up themselves: 'For 60 years, our folk music has been ringing out, guaranteeing cheerfulness, conviviality and good spirits. Founded by pioneers, sustained by enthusiasts, and united by love and friendship. We look back with gratitude on wonderful years and look forward to celebrating with you.”
