Shovel Dance Company
ENG‘The London group combines the extremely traditional with the incredibly weird, fanning the flames of folk for a new generation,’ writes the British The Wire Magazine. The Shovel Dance Collective is a nine-piece band that works without a boss. This, they say, is also typical of folk music: ‘It places you in a great chain of daily life, and how it can be intimately connected to political and emotional actions, past and present,’ says the band. The Shovel Dance Collective reclaim British folk, with workhouse medleys and the pleasant determination of a macabre sea shanty.
