The folk ensemble ‘Shemodzakhili’ has existed since 2005 and was named after the legendary Georgian singer Andro Simashvili. The aim was to explore and revitalise the traditional music of eastern Georgia, especially the Kartli-Kakheti region. Shemodzakhili has since performed at many folk festivals in Georgia. In 2011, the ten male voices were honoured with the National Folklore Festival Award. Shemodzakhili has participated in several popular national television programmes and projects, such as the mega-project Khalkhuri of the Georgian Public Broadcasting Corporation in 2025. Now they are singing in Rudolstadt!
