Sanam

LEB

The six-piece band Sanam from Beirut epitomises the growing experimental music scene in Lebanon. The group was formed as a project at the famous Irtijal Festival in Beirut. This resulted in the first joint recording and the debut album Aykathani Malakon (An Angel Woke Me). It combines all the original influences, cosmic music, post-punk, psych-rock, free jazz and traditional Levantine folklore. A sound of low-pitched guitar jams, industrial drums and earthy vocals, ‘a haunting collection of dark and expansive textures’, says The Guardian newspaper.
