Sam Kowalski
Sam Kowalski is a one-man project by Polish singer and multi-instrumentalist Mateusz Kowalski. Its background is folk music, which lies both in the research and performance of the Oberek - the popular dance of Polish villages. Awarded a special prize by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute at the Nowa Tradycja Festival of Polish Radio (2024), it is a search for a slower and more meditative interpretation of this old music, which is traditionally rather lively, even violent. Transferred from the violin to the guitar and commented with traditional rhymes, it is a minimalist and imagination-stimulating invitation to the world of music that, fortunately, has not yet been forgotten.
