Danish folk bands come and go, but Phønix endures. For 35 years, the musicians have been singing and playing their way through Danish songs and dance tunes. "Much of Phønix's repertoire is very old and testifies to a rich history," says singer Karen Mose. “It’s wonderful to see our music perceived as exotic and exciting abroad, and to present people with something completely new.” You can experience this on Saturday at the concert on the Neumarkt stage. Phønix will also be guests at the talk at the Schminkkasten.

For their other performances and workshops, Phønix will be teaming up with the four dancers from the Embla ensemble. Their name originates from Norse mythology: according to legend, two tree trunks lay on the shore until the gods Odin, Høner and Lódur breathed life, will and beauty into them. Thus the first humans, Ask and Embla, came into being. Expect a show featuring rousing rhythms, spirited movements, emotional sounds and physical storytelling.
