Jugendfolkorchester

DEU

With forty young people, an unbiased view of traditional melodies, and a stage full of different instruments, the Youth Folk Orchestra demonstrates the vibrancy of German folk music. Now in its third year, this annual project brings young people together. Aged between 12 and 27, they hail from all corners of Germany. Together, they dig up old pieces from archives and collections, including dances, emigrant songs and almost forgotten folk tunes. The orchestra's instruments range from violin and harp to clarinet, hurdy-gurdy and double bass. After intensive learning phases and rehearsal camps in smaller groups, the highlight is performing as a large orchestra at Rudolstadt Festival.
