This magical, ritual music comes from the Caucasus and is made of earth, wind and fire. Just like Timur Kodzokov, one of the founders of Jrpjej, the other members of the band grew up listening to western rock, pop or experimental music. In recent years, they have all immersed themselves in Circassian tradition in one way or another: they have rediscovered their native music. Cultural outsiders play old songs for modern reality and call it post-traditional music. The groove sounds like it was invented yesterday. The label behind it is Ored Recordings, to which Timur belongs and where the debut album Qorror was released in 2020. Torn from the original rites, they have finally found a new context.
