Over the years, critics have come up with all sorts of descriptions for him: 'urban chronicler', 'original innovator of Austro-pop', 'non-conformist maverick', not to mention the 'Bob Dylan of Praterstern'. After all, Nino is also a writer. And seven nominations for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award speak for themselves; or rather, for him. He won the award in the Alternative Pop / Rock category. He is simply hard to categorise and likes to defy all labels. He loves observing everyday life and the feeling of having released an EP after 19 albums: “a cool format. like a short story. a good quarter of an hour, that’s how long you normally stand at tichy‘s.” Tichy is a cult ice-cream parlour in Vienna, an integral part of the Austrian capital – just like Nino and dieAusWienBand (in English theFromViennaBand).
