Al Bilali Soudan
MLIBack to the roots! The relaxed performance by Al Bilali Soudan is a journey of discovery into the world of traditional Tuareg music. The group's leader, Abellow Yattara, comes from a well-known Tuareg family of explorers who have been playing this music for generations. His instrument is the three-stringed teharent. Typical of this style of music (tashigalt) is the constant alternation between the three-stringed tehardent and the percussive rhythm of the calabash. With the increasing interest in Tuareg music, the focus in recent years has mainly been on modern bands such as Tinariwen or Tarakeft, who play the popular desert blues style. The Timbuktu band Al Bilali Soudan shows us the roots of Tuareg music.
