Wernyhora (POL)Named after a mythic Cossack bard, Wernyhora is a trio from the Polish-Ukrainian borderland, specialising in the musical traditions of the peoples inhabiting the Carpathian Mountains and interpreting Boyko music. The Boykos live in the Bieszczady Mountains (now stretching from Poland to Slovakia and Ukraine) and identify as Ruthenians/Ukrainians. Last year Wernyhora won First Prize at the New Tradition Folk Music Festival, organised by Polish Radio. They consolidated this by appearing at Ethno Port Poznań.
