Solju

Solju (FIN)At the heart of Solju’s music lies Sámi tradition and cultural identity from northernmost Finland. Ulla Pirttijärvi and her daughter Hildá Länsman formed Solju to keep alive their linguistic Sámi heritage and their people’s ancestral vocal song expression called yoik. They sing the old legends and lore of the traditional lifestyles of their Sápmi homeland. Their arrangements are driven by musical modernity, innovation and electronic landscapes while remaining respectful of the old ways. A dialogue between traditional and modern-day Sámi culture.
