Islandman is the creation of Istanbul-based musician-producer Tolga Boyuk Tolga Böyük, a Borges-like dreamer who composed stories of an imaginary world searching for sound. Onstage Islandman performs as an electro-acoustic trio. Their music is a signature mix of mellow electronic structures and dance beats. They bring hits of Turkish psychedelia, snatches of African roots music – all wrapped up in guitaristic spacey-ness and shamanic rhythms. Look at it right, and maybe you’ll glimpse an alternative electric universe through a crack. It could make you a believer.
