BCUC (SAF)class="English">A mere stone’s throw from the church where Desmond Tutu organized the escape of Soweto’s most wanted anti-apartheid activists, BCUC can be found rehearsing in a repurposed shipping container, now a bustling communal eatery. Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness, or BCUC for short, regard their music as not only a form of hedonistic trance but also as a tool for political and spiritual emancipation. Their boundless openness and compelling musical (dance) power are irresistible – this band is truly one of a kind! At the Worldwide Music Expo in autumn 2023, BCUC were honoured with the prestigious WOMEX Award.
