Bantu (NIG)With their driving rhythms and sharp political lyrics the 13-piece Bantu (Brotherhood Alliance Navigating Towards Unity) are firmly following in the footsteps of fellow countryman Fela Kuti. They are a funky, highly danceable band. Afrobeat, Afrofunk and soul seamlessly flow into one another, merging with jazz, highlife, hip hop and Yoruba music. Their words act as x-rays laying bare Nigeria’s perennial socio-political problems. In 2005 their Fuji Satisfaction landed them Kora awards (the highest Pan-African music medal) for ‘Best Group West Africa’ and ‘Best Group Africa’. An awesome Afro-fusion groove cocktail.
