A Filetta (FRA)

A Filetta

A Filetta (FRA)Paghjella is Corsica’s distinctive unaccompanied, male singing tradition. Straddling the secular and liturgical, this oral tradition is characterised by extraordinary vocal inventiveness. A Filetta (‘The Fern’) is a six man ensemble founded in 1978 who sing its multi-part songs. They are bringing back Corsica’s status as Mediterranean crossroads with compositions anchored between East and West, between memory and utopia. One of the most audacious examples of living polyphonic music anywhere.
